GENERAL

Each vehicle is equipped with a mobile and hand held radio. In addition, the fire station has a base station, and the officers have a variety of radios available to them.

The station’s base station is available as needed but will generally be under the supervision of the lead incident dispatched.

Vehicle radios (mobile & hand held) will be operated under the direction of the assigned operator. The operator may delegate operation of the radio to a passenger but should monitor and maintain control of its use. Hand held radios should not usually be activated while in the vehicle.

All firefighters should be familiar with the "EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROCEDURE" section of this manual as it relates to radio notifications of cooperators.

The following pages illustrate details of the Tierra Linda radio information. All radios have 14 channels as indicated on the attachment. However, brush truck #420 also has a 15th channel that covers a new and improved Kerr SO #2.
